No DD-214 Required

We do not require you to have your DD-214 to get your CJM Certificate of Service. Over the years many of our veterans have at some point lost their DD-214 and other military memorabilia through house fires, moving, etc. Some of our servicemen cannot replace them.

There was a fire in 1973 at the National Personnel Records Center (St. Louis, MO) that destroyed approximately 16-18 million Official Military Personnel Files.

However, you might want to get ahold of your DD-214 to use as a good reference for your, or your loved ones, medals and awards. If you are preparing a gift for a loved one this document would help you "sneak around" and get the info. so you can make your gift a surprise.

Normally we would recommend you contact the National Personnel Records Center for a free copy, but there are many reports on the Net that the NPRC is taking many weeks to perform record retrievals, with a backlog of two hundred thousand (200,000) requests. At their stated receiving rate of 4,000 to 5,000 requests per day, you're talking a 40+ day backlog.

Therefore, to retrieve your records in a reasonable time frame we recommend that you contact a research company. There are two research companies we have found. I have heard there are more as well. We know of Touchstone Research, which will retrieve your records within a week.

So that we can meet the needs of all of our veterans we do not require the DD-214 to make a certificate.

CJM Military Certificates are for display only, and are not intended to be used as a legal document in any way. Your DD-214 can be used as a reference in finding out what medals, ribbons and badges to ask for on your CJM Certificate of Service.

Everything we do is designed especially for you.
